Ok so I've been looking for rims.

Found a steal, I hoped not literally, but went with it anyways.

$250 for a set of clean 18x7.5 MB Drifters. Love the look of them, came with tires too. Tires were older, still lots of tread, figured would be a nice buy, even if the tires were crap the wheels alone would be worth the money.

Drove the 2 hrs to meet the guy, cool chap. Had a 01 GTP himself that they were mounted on. Showed me pictures of the car and the wheels, looked the wheels over myself, came with locking lugs and tool. Figured I was getting a great deal. He said he sold the car, kept the wheels, had them in storage with plans for the future but it never paned out so he was just wanting them gone. So we shook hands, he even dropped the price to $200 flat since I had to drive 2 hrs away. Plus we met at the local Casino and his GF was hitting the machines well so he was happy.

Got back home with them, waited til today to have the shop balance them and make sure they'd balance out well before I mounted them and had issues.

Not noticeable mind you, but being spun you can tell he hit a curb or something because it rolls funny. It balanced out anyways but still erks me majorly. 30 mins of chatting over the car and the wheels and he never even mentioned it. The wheels are discontinued and face it our 5x115mm bolt pattern isn't very popular so finding a proper replacement will be tough.

Just needed to vent ATM cuz I'm mad!!!

Oh well, live and learn right. Only $200 down the drain if I can't get another wheel and maybe I'll be able to sell the 3 if it comes down to it :th_shakinghead2:

Was so looking forward to them too.
 


It doesn't have a normal bend in it that's noticeable or easy to straighten. Its more of like egg shaped, smooth, still circular. Like I said, looking at it, you can't tell but when its on the balancer spinning you notice that its off.

The tech added weights and balanced it out, but he said he would look for a replacement if it was going on his. Said it would work most likely but I too don't really trust it.

I may put them on and see how it rides and handles. But not too sure atm.

Just sux. I know I have nobody to blame but myself, which is what's so upsetting. Next set will be new, not doing this again. IF I could find a replacement, it will most likely be the same for 1 wheel that I gave for the whole set. :(

Turn around and sell them make sure you dont tell the buyer one wheel is bent....wait. DOH!
 


fixing one wheel is way cheaper than buying a new one. there are tons of people out there that will make it perfect again.

Yup yup, actually had a guy I know come in just before lunch. He works at a local body shop and is big on aftermarket part hook-ups. He's going to give me the info to a shop in Dallas that they send all their bent wheels to, said they are the best in the area.

I'll try and run them tonight, he said if it balances out it should roll fine... only took 4.5oz spread out to balance and its mostly on the inside, so we'll see. If not I'll send it off and pray it works out in my favor.
 
dallas huh? did he give you the name of the place? cuz my neighbor is an alloy wheel repair guy, trailer at his house and all (thats where i do all the **** to mine lol) well anyways, he sends the wheels that need welded and **** down to the main place in texas soo just curious

He did but I don't remember the name... Told him if it didn't roll well I'd ask him for all the info. Next time I see him I'll write it down tho :th_thumbsup-wink:

It does suck, but I'm making due... Just frustrates me how people can be so shady, I probably would have still bought them for $200 regardless had he said 1 is slightly bent, but still useable and easily repairable. But no... :th_shakinghead2:

I have pics of them mounted on the car, but like I said... looking at them, you can't tell at all. They are "perfectly" circular to the naked eye, but on the balancer they are off and spinning on the balancer you can tell where the spot is. Pictures wouldn't show anything.
 
man that sucks, ya the wheels look clean tho!
there is a guy here in downtown, OKC that does really good work, i had a blow out on one of my skinny draglights and it looked beyond repair and he fixed it for a good price and balanced out perfect!
with all the construction in norman ive bent the inside of 2 of my 22's so im gonna have him fix them in the winter. lmk if you need his info

So I reopened this to you guys can hear me scream.... I get to work back from lunch and get out and look at the car and something is... off

... missing... if you will

And it hits me....

I'm MISSING A F*N CENTER CAP!!!!! BAHHHHH!!!!!:th_bangheadonwall:

I know its somewhere down the side of the highway because I didn't notice at lunch when I left the apartment, but that's 5+ miles of highway it could be on, and left side so median or right side... its gone.

The really bad part is the wheels are discontinued so I have a couple shops trying to find me some replacements but its not looking good. :th_crying1:

I hate to see what is going to happen over the weekend :th_nervous:
 
shouldhave bought mustang wheels like most guys lol.


no, seriously. center cap you might find on some jdm forums.
