Stupid Boss's

So last night as you all know was Halloween, I work in a restaurant that does dine in, carryout, and delivery, Thursday nights are always a busy carryout night, but for some reason my boss decided that she was going to leave at 5 and leave us short handed by 1 person that we normally need on a Thursday night. Last night was pure hell we got our asses handed to us. So I left my boss a nice message about how its complete bull**** that she not only understaffed us but that she also left and didn't have someone else there to cover for her. Then this morning she leaves me a nasty message about how I ruined her night and made her feel like crap for going out...... Of course she should feel bad, what made her think that we would be okay with her doing that. But that gives her no right to be mad at me.

My wife is a server at a local restaurant...she's been at the same place for 10 years or so. There is only one person that's been there longer than her, and he's not even a manager. She's trained every server in that restaurant, and knows more about the business than most of the managers. Stuff like what you described happens pretty regularly, and is the reason why she wants to get out. She's so tired of working with selfish kids that do what they want instead of what they're supposed to do, and get mad when they get called out on it.

Responsibility, people! Take some!

We both have been there for over 11 years so idk what she was thinking.

I'll just add to this thread

We haven't had raw material since Monday the 17th. Our vendor had some issues and we were going to be without material for over a week.

Fast forward to this week. I hear from the vendor on Monday that they have a load produced (which ironically is the WRONG load, but I can work with it), but they need payment to release it. Payment is sent out Monday and they tell me they will arrange shipping as soon as they have the check in their hands. Tuesday afternoon I get an email saying the material will be picked up Wednesday morning and will delivered Thursday or Friday. I said I need it Thursday.

I pass the info along to my superiors to they know what to expect. My team leader and I are called up to our supervisors office and are told we need to take Wednesday off, and work Saturday, because of blah, blah, blah. We regretfully agree, finish the day, and go home.

Well apparently, material showed up at 9:30 am yesterday (the day we were told to stay home), unbeknownst to me.

Now, I am being blamed for this happening. They are saying that I knew it was going to be there and I just blew it off, because I didn't want to work Wednesday.

Um HELLO, I would have made the call as soon as I got word it was coming in Wednesday if I had known it was coming in.

To top it off, my team leader confronted our supervisor and asked why he didn't just call us to come in when the material showed up, and he basically blew it off and gave him a bull**** excuse. He blamed me, saying basically he knows I knew it was coming (I didn't.) He also said I never take accountability for my actions (I am one of the only people in the company to actually take accountability. Everyone else plays the blame game)

He also told the team leader that Mark (the owner) was trying to get ahold of me ALL DAY Wednesday and I never answered his calls. He said I am OBLIGATED to answer my phone. Well first of all Mark NEVER called me once during the day. Second, this is MY ******* phone. Work doesn't pay one cent of my bill for me using it for work.

To top all of this off, not one word has been said to me. I have been hearing all of this through other people who feel I have a right to know. It took all my being not to walk out the door today.

I got two words. I'M DONE!

I applied for two jobs yesterday while I was off and was talking to my brother today and he told me his company is hiring. Also actually talked to my former supervisor last night when he called me out of the blue and said he can get me into the mine. I just need something to get me out of there FAST!

I'm done with my job as well. I was supposed to be off at 5 I had a date at 6 it is now 729 and the closer is nowhere to be found, I already canceled my sate and I'm probably going to end up being here till we close.......

Dont forget to tell the boss to shove it.

I need to talk to my boss tomorrow. They tell me they are mandatory retiring me after 38.5 years. The company doesn't have mandatory retirement. They won't tell me when. I guess they don't know if the IT firm they're bringing in will complete in time. They want me here until I can help convert everything over for the new outside team. They're spending money like crazy after not allowing me a budget and they lay off a bunch of people this week.

A little follow up to my happening, I dropped off the application and my resume where my brother works on Tuesday. I got a call today and they already ran my background and want me to take a piss test by Saturday (I am going tomorrow.) Hoping I know something by next week.

Also, there has still been nothing said to my face about the happenings of last week. Really, f$cking sad.

I put my two weeks in today. Handed notice to my direct supervisor, the same guy who talked sh!t on me to my production team leader, and he looked at me with a look of shock on his face and asked, "Are you serious?" Company owner hasn't talked to me yet. He wasn't in today, though I am sure he knows. He is going to beg me to stay, offer me more money, etc, but I will not be swayed.

Start the new job 4/21, sooner if the boss gets mad at me and tells me not to come back. LOL

I would work up until the 2 weeks. No need to burn a bridge in case something happens and you need to go back. You leaving should make enough of a point.

Congrats on the new job. The new projects at my job are supposed to wrap up this week. I don't know how either one won't fall on it's face. Pushing me, being their IT guy, to the back of two IT projects. That seemed to make a lot of sense to them. I'll be out of here in a couple of weeks anyway. Unless they have to keep me to help keep anything going. I'll stay until then, I can use the severance pay when they retire me.
