My battery just went out, cell was shot. Stupid thing cost me $110 cause no one had it but the dealership, and the car is only friggin 3 years old.....didnt think the crapped out that fast.
 


Dont the batteries usually have a 3 to 5 yr warrenty on them? And your goona pay that price for a battery no matter where you go. I got one last yr and cost me 102 from advance
 
the newer ac delco batteries have been getting worse. i cant tell you how many people come into advance and tell me they need a new battery for their g6 anywhere between 05-07

Nope, they dont cover it after 3 yrs 36000 miles(dealership) and its a 6 yr battery.
 
$110 is normal for a new delco battery. You just missed a deal with them where you can get a 6yr warranty for only $15 extra.
 


If my batteries only lasted me 3-5 years, I'd take them back to where I bought them and throw them through their front window. ...and if I had to pay extra for a 6 year warranty, I'd be even more upset than that. I EXPECT a battery to last me 6 years just because it's a battery - won't pay extra for it.
 
3 to 5 with perfect conditions. If they drop below 12 volts they are hurt if they drop below 10 the life has been shortened greatly more than 10 volts you have about 2 times before it is shot completely. Each time it drops below 12 volts the life span and efficiency of the battery is shortened.
 
I can get a 9 year free replacement warranty for $10.

Big deal.

GM employees go to the battery plant and get one for $25. No warranty but its a new battery. :D

My battery is from 2002, still kicking.

10.5 V is completely empty and consider a starting battery should never be drained past 80% or else its life is shortened.

Also bought it about ~5 years ago in the industrial park by my work... can't remember name of either the battery or store.

Don't you have any type of a battery specific store "at yo house" (don't kno where u live)?

WOW, that's horrible! No way I'm replacing a battery every 5 years. The way I look at it, if I have to replace them that often, then I might as well become Amish.

No one has dropped any names yet, except for AC Delco, so I'll put my opinion in here from a couple decades of experience. -Interstate. My wife's Suburban ran the same battery for 10 years and I replaced it this past fall, just because it seemed like the thing to do while I was replacing the alternator. The batteries in my diesel truck are 10 years old this month. One example of Interstate not letting me down is when I went out on one of the coldest days of the year this past winter, after it had sat unstarted for 3 weeks in an unheated building AND, I didn't have the block heater plugged in and it fired right up in one shot. When it comes to batteries, in my opinion, there is no other name.

No one else had one that would fit(they were too tall) we checked wal mart, advanced auto, autozone, oreily and the dealership was the only one.
 
Hehe, I just have to comment because I also just replaced my battery. It was also just a hair older than 3 years and out of warranty. Battery life is a complicated matter depending on charge cycles, overcharging, undercharging, vibration, extreme heat, extreme cold and maybe the least significant factor is who made it. Come on lets be real, how many different companies really manufacture batteries in the US. Four, maybe five??? And there are like 30-50 different brand stickers that get put on them.

That being said, the OEM battery in my first GP lasted for at least 6 six years and was good the day I sold it.:D

My replacement battery cost $70 at my local Farm and Fleet, 6 year warranty with slightly better amp ratings. But there was an interesting twist to the story. I researched the battery I needed, which is a standard size 34. I get to the store and according to there quick reference lists I needed a $120 special gel battery. I was like, hmm, NOT. Sometimes old school is best.;)
