Stubborn Exhaust Bolts

I was lucky enough to pick up a DP from a friend of mine who was demodding his GP for a great price. So I put the car up on ramps and find that the stock DP bolts would much rather stay on the car. I've WD40'd the hell out of them but no dice. Is there something else I can hit them with or do I need to get a hold of a torch?

Well, yes torching it is a good method. Also, WD-40 isn’t penetrating oil. In fact, WD-40 really isn’t even oil IMHO. There are tons of penetrating oils, pick one and spray some on. Then wait a day and re-spray . Then maybe a third time and you might not need that torch when you go to wrench them off.:th_thumbsup-wink: Good luck.

Heat the f**k outta them, they will come out with little fuss. I mean like glowing hot hot...

PB Blaster is your friend. Shoot it with that, let it sit a day and you'll be able to pull em with hand tools

You don't need a torch to heat exhaust bolts. Put the car on ramps etc and start it. Instant exhaust bolt heat up w/o worrying if you are torching too close to fuel lines etc.

I have a 30" extension and Snap On swivel sockets that make the job easier.

My DP bolts were 100% rust welded together.. like the there was no identifying nut on the bolt... which was also rust down to a point...

Demel cutting wheel and carbid drill bit.......fun

i put like a 2 foot pipe on the end of my wrench and kicked the **** out of it, no wd40 came right off lol leverage makes a world of difference

got a breaker bar? it works every time, all the time lol i used a breaker bar when putting on my headers

Hmm thanks for all the replies. I picked up a breaker bar from a buddy today and I'm heading out to grab some PB blaster as well. Fingers crossed.

Old DP is off, a delightful combo of PB blaster, heating the bolts via BillBoost's method and swearing did the trick just fine. Thanks for the help everyone!...I don't need any kind of PCM tuning for just a DP right?
