Strut compatibility

Tried using search to no real answer...

Picked up a 2004 GT1 for my kids. The struts are blown. Have a chance to get struts / springs from a 1999 GTP being parted out. Will the 1999 springs / struts bolt right in? I know it will lower it a bit.

Yes.

But if they are for the front, they might not have the sway bar bracket on the side.

It won't lower it. I put struts/springs in from a 97-03 into my 07 and it sits exactly the same.

As FFDP stated your 04 has the sway bar link bolt to the strut where 97-03 and 06-08 have the sway bar link bolt to the lower control arm.

Thanks for the replies, not worried about the sway bar, just want cheap struts/ springs.

What they are saying is if the brackets are not on the strut your existing swaybar endlinks will not bolt up, so in essence it will not work.

Exactly. You will need to change to 97-03, 06-08 style lower control arms in order to use those style struts.

I'm tracking, the 1999 has hail damage and will be junked. I'll grab the control arms also.

You'll need the sway bar and links too but being a 99 I bet the bar is cracked or already broken unless someone replaced it already.
