been hearing some nasty noises from the back of my 2000 gtp and pulled it into the garage today to find the strut had blown through the frame and into my trunk !

my gtp has 240k miles on it and has more than just this problem currently and i was wondering if this is worth repairing, and how much ?

or is it just new car time ?? ;[

Can it be repaired? Sure, anything is repairable. Unless you have a welder and the skills to fix it, I would say time to replace. Depending on what else is wrong with the car, it might be time to replace regardless.

The best ones are when it busts thought the back window......Very common problem in the rust belt.

Go around to a few local shops and get quotes.....they ranges from $400-$2000. So it's very tough to say if it's worth it or not, that's all up to you.

Could you fix it, sure.

But you won't want to pay the money to do so. It's a very common thing for cars in the rust belt, you car woulda needed to get fixed years ago to prevent that.

At 240,000 miles, I'd part the car out and junk it.

I work at a transmission supplier in Chicago, so welding no problem.. But the parts, where do I get that? Sawzawl to cut it out? Or get the new g6 GTP gxp....or is that Lil ponty, crap compared to our cars?

Jack it up until it's not through the trunk anymore and spray a bunch of expanding foam on top of that and let it dry then keep driving :D

In my honest opinion, I would say scrap the car as its probably not worth it. These cars are so common that you can pick up for a decent price. Like someone said buy one with a bad engine or trans for next to nothing, and swap your stuff over. Or just buy the G6.
