:th_scratchhead:I guess all of a sudden last night my MPG and OIL level % And whatever the middle screen in the middle of the dashboard with the car and the digital readout of mpg and such..... well half of the screen is alot darker then the other half?? did i blow a fuse or a light?? because its making me angry the left side is fine and then right side is dim and hard to read.:th_scratchhead: what happened??
 


Mine, for a LONG time now, instead of going dim, it flashes brighter. I'll be drivin along, and it just gets brighter, real fast flashes of brightness. Crazy.
 
i was tampering with it today and i didnt open it up or anything but are there bulbs in the center unit "tells mpg and oil % stuff etc.... 1 side is really dim an the other side is normal. is it a fuse or a bulb "are there bulbs in the unit??
 
I can tell you it is not your normal 194 bulb. Its something smaller with its own blue base it sits in that twists into the PCB and makes contact to the metal spots on the PCB and the blue retainer. I was never able to get an accurate Part or Item number for that bulb so I am not much help there.
 


so i must open up the unit?? i got to unplugging it then i figured i dont want to ruin anything so put it all back together haha. how do i access these bulbs?
 
There are approx 4 or 6 little tabs that hold the faceplate onto the DIC. Once you remove the faceplate, the PCB slides out and you will see the bulbs within. But be careful with the tabs, I managed to break 2 of them before getting the faceplate off on my old GT.
 


HA good luck finding them bulbs, i looked around all day for those bulbs, 3 GM dealerships didnt even have them, ended up finding them at this skanky little auto shop
 
haha yeah took it all apart today i blew 2 or 3 blubs so imma get 3 just to be on the safe side. My local Dealer said they have 5 in stock i believe. =]i can only image the cost though!
