Strange and getting stranger!

My sons 03 GT has gotten even stranger. Mechanic was working on it today and I have previously changed both the blower motor resistor and changed the head control unit on this car. I am not able to get it to work on settings 1-4, but it does work on five. He tired a new blower motor resistor today - that did not change anything. He did notice that when you turn on the blower motor in settings 1-4 that the daytime running lights shut off? He can't figure that one out. He is going to try a different blower motor next week to see of that changes anything. The next step after that is to try and investigate the electrical. Any thoughts as to why the lights would shut off? This car has got me stumped.
 


might want to check out your ignition switch, pretty common on 97-03 to go bad. Ive seen some crazy things from them going bad... including weird blower operation. just probe each wire make sure its getting the voltage its supposed to. operate the blower while probing them see if theres a voltage drop. The bad switches cause a low voltage issue on a number of circuits.

Pink and white - Ignition
orange and brown - accessory
