Storm pics from mid Missouri

Well watched the evening news and saw that pretty interesting storms starting to brew around the KC metro area last night so, grabbed the camera and headed out. I took several BEFORE the storm hit here in Odessa, MO. There was a funnel cloud reported and the tornado sirens went off twice. I of course grab the kids and dog and get them downstairs and Abrasive grabs the camera and heads outside to shoot some pics. :th_scratchhead:

Ahhh yeah, we got the tail end of some stuff last night. MONSTER gust front and plenty of rotation. Supposed to be some more nasty stuff in your area tomorrow, in fact I would go as far as to say conditions are such that you should probably keep an eye on the weather.

Those are some nice pictures. I forget the technical name for it (Im not a meteorologist, I just play one) for when the clouds are all bubbly looking on the base like some of yours were, but it is a sign of great instability in the atmosphere. Some of the darker pictures i see 'signs' of some rotation, but its hard to tell from still frames whether or not it was actually rotating.

Also keep in mind there are three stages of rotation. 3D Shear, Meso and TVS. A TVS if kind of a pre-cursor to a tornado and stands for tornadic vortex signature. So the signs of rotation I see in a couple of your pics may have been rotation but may have not been severe enough too be a real threat.

I figured you'd like those Scotty. Those clouds in those darker pictures were taken while the tornado sirens were going off (yeah, smart I know). They were definitely the scariest looking skies I've seen in quite a while. Sounds like it could get really nasty around here tomorrow too.
