hey guys I am going to be storing car for about 3 - 4 months i was going to just start it and let it run about 1/2 hour once a week my drive way is circular and 2/10ths of a mile so I was also going to take it around the driveway about 5 times when I did that as well, a friend of mine said that is no good I should really pull the battery keep it on a float charger drain the oil put it on blocks the whole bit, for 4 months isn't that over kill? what is the best way to do this?

a can of STA-BIL in the gas tank, and that should do it, if you want take the tires and rims off, but dont let the susspention hang, leave the weight of the car on the springs, start it up every 2 weeks to keep the battery charged or just pull it all together.

i used to use this stuff called fogger on my boat as it would sit all winter, take the intake off and spray it into the tb in small bursts, and then spray hard till it stalls, this stuff is supposed to coat the inside of the engine and prep it for storage.
 
dont start it, just let it sit and put the battery on a maintainer. Short starts are terrible for it, just gets a whole bunch of wather in the oil.
 
if you leave it with a full tank of fuel, you would probably be able to get away without the sta-bil. 3 months really isnt that long.

What I am worried about with that is parts seizing up I had van I let sit awhile like that and it rand like crap knocked and everything for about 5 minutes then I had some over heating issues that ended me having to change the head gaskets and the van had run fine up until I let it sit for about 5 months or so.

From having to do this many times during my military service I can tell you for a fact there are only a couple things that need to be done for a 4-6 month storage.

1) 7/8 to FULL gas tank
2) Disconnect the battery – wrap the leads in cloth or something (just make damn sure they don’t flop over and hit the battery terminals)
3) If the car is parked outside, put a sun shade in the front window.
4) Clean all the crap out of the car, you would be amazed what will stink after 4 months.
5) Pump the tires to 35 psi
6) Have a beer your done ;)

On charging the battery sure, but just do it once for a day or two if it makes you feel better. But definitely don’t start it every week or drain the oil.

put stabil in the tank then make sure you start the car and let the stabil run through the system, dont start every now and then, just get a battery maintainer 10$ at harbor frieght, pump the tires up, throw some dryer sheets under the seats incase some mice want to make your car a home. top off fluids. done.
 
Thanks for all the tips so I am guessing sitting will not seize anything up and it will be in a insulated BUT non heated garage. Did not know about the dryer sheets I have 4.5 acres and get mice in the house I may try this in the basement where they come in
