stock resonator seems to be rattling

im hearing a rattling coming from my exhaust that has gotten quite obnoxious... pretty sure its the resonator. guessing this means i need a new one?

What makes you think it's the resonator? Nothing in it that can really rattle. It's probably a tack weld on one of the exhaust shields on it or one of the exhaust shields on the car. Just get the tack weld fixed.

yeah i guess ill look at both soon... is there any way to fix this? im so sick of the rattling its actually pretty loud n makes my car sound like a piece of junk

get really fine tiny screws that are self tapping =] thats what me n my pops did to his GRAND AM... but thats a grand am.. lol

im figuring it probably got knocked loose because of the unavoidable potholes all over the roads around my area. god damn on the drive to school every day the roads are so bumpy its nuts... they need to re-pave!!!

it's everywhere right now with rought roads. that's the downfall of the end of winter in the northern states.

The rattle on mine was the resonator heat shield, and the rotted through resonator making it rattle. nothing a piece of stainless could'nt fix!

I straight piped it, Cost of a new resonator here was like 300 bucks versus a 10$ piece of stainless.Change in exhaust note is minimal.

yeah, if its the resonator shield i might just fix it but if its rotted through i might get a straight pipe or glasspack
