Stock radio questions

On the back of the radio I have to plugs. The one is for speakers, power, ect. The second one is smaller I assume this is for the factory amp. We plugged in the aftermarket radio and have power and every thing works but no sound. The wire harness we got didn't have any second plug for or any thing for that second plug. Did I get the wrong adapter? I'm just learning.

You have to go to like walmart and look up the year and model of your car on the back of the wire harness boxes. Then hook those wires to your wires coming out of your aftermarket radio then that plug you get from like walmart will plug right into your factory radio plug on the car.

Which stock radio did you have? What year of car? I changed my radio the other day. My car is a 2005 base and it had 2 plugs. The smaller one is no longer in use and has 4 wires. My car does not have an amp. Hopefully that'll help you identify yours.

Sorry about that. Standard radio no steering wheel controls. Just wated to know what the smaller plug was for. I get power to the radio just no sound. Was wondering if that small plug had something to do with that.

on a standard stock radio there are three connectors, C1 is the speakers L and R front, ground, power, and dimmer. C2 is steering wheel controls, serial data for HUD, and speaker L and R rear. C1 and C2 are stacked so they appear as one connector. C3 is an 9 pin flat connector, only 3 pins are used for remote CD audio.

so for an aftermarket harness you need to connect it to match up properly. the smaller connector you don't need.

Here's the wiring
C1
1 gray LF -
2 tan LF +
3 dk grn RF -
4 lt grn RF +
5 blk/wht ground
6 gry/blk lights
7 brn/wht dimmer
8 dk grn radio On output (e.g for powered antenna)
9 yel fused acc power (RAP)
10 orn +12V fused

C2
11 blank
12 blank
13 blank
14 dk blu steering wheel inputs
15 dr grn HUD serial data
16 blank
17 lt blu RR -
18 dk blu RR +
19 yel LR -
20 brn LR +
