so this might be kinda dumb but i was wondering why the bonneville is actually rated 5 more hp and torque more than the grand prix? both the exact same engines so whats the diffrence? anyone know? just curious cuz i use to have a 97 se bonneville and now a 99 grand prix gt coupe. the grand prix is faster by a little bit but thats just stating the obvious now lol.

Don't know on those specific cars but in the mid 80s saw the same thing. 1987 Monte Carlo was rated 150hp while the grand prix was rated 165hp. Both had the same exact engine setup (LG4). Was never sure if Pontiac had a better tune or what the deal was.

I have to think Bio is right, in reality there is no difference other then the spec.

No the bonneville is rated 205hp and 230 torque. The grand prix 200hp and 225 torque if you check the specs.

Specs are stupid.

All the motors are the same...there is no difference except the mounts or gearing in the transmission

I've also heard 200hp and 240tq, as well as 200hp and 220tq. They should all put out the same power, just different numbers are thrown out there
