stock head unit with subs and ipod hookup?

hey i like my stock head unit... but i also want subs. I know you can hook them up with some kind of rca adaptor. Does anyone know any good writeups, or even want to explain? Also im tired of static from my radio transmitter, so while im in there is there anyway to hook a direct line up for my ipod?

Do you have RCA cables coming from the back of your unit?? if so, get a Y cable...thats what Im doing.

No there arent any rcas only the like 20 pin connector thingS

If you want to be running subs from your stock head unit, youll also need some sort of external subwoofer controller (http://www.thetechgeek.com/images/net/product_photos/PLXR-A8.jpg)... OBVIOUSLY do not get pyle (their garbage, just showing you what it loooks like). There are fairly cheap, and fairly nice looking decks out there that would have sub out put and AUX input for your ipod.

easiest solution without taking your headunit apart: PAC makes modules that add RCAs to stock headunit, and others that allow you to create an auxiliary input.

if you go this route, be sure you get the model you need. i just did a quick search so you get the gist of things.

ok thanks everyone. so basically for the subs i need the rca adaptor then run an amp to that with the subs and everthing? oh ya and is the level control all i need for the subs? or should i get like a crossover also?

Just the line level control, there should be crossover settings on your amp, use those and you will be set.
