Hello everybody

I recently purchased a 2002 Grand Prix GT with 104,000 km (close to 65,000 miles) on it and I was just woundering...

everywhere I look it seems I should be getting a 0-60 time of about 8 sec but I am getting on average of about 12 sec...what do you guys think?

Car runs 100% not a stich of problems, shifts great and I wouldn't have thought anything weird about how this car drives or handles except the 4 secound gap in times when I looked up the info before I bought...

Interested in any opinions

Yea that seems verryyy slow considering theres cars with half our power quicker then that. you should be around 8 sec.Something is wrong

Hopefully that link works, mpg is file format

car is canadian so in km so just under 100 km = 60 mph in video I take care to 160km/hr (100 mph)

also gas milage seems good (just under 30 mpg)

also u may notice cel popped on while doing this video which is wierd first time in 2 months and I drove about 100 miles today wot and fooling around for a good portion with no issues..car is running good still with light...prolly just because it say in that 5-6k range for so long on one shift point

will get code read asap even though seems wierd it just came on, car perfomance is same as when bought car 2 months ago

when you click link you will see little green question mark with a counter from 10...then Proceed to File Download Page
hit that then on bottom of next page you will see Click here to download your file next to another green question mark

this worked fine for me

First Link did work for me.

How are you launching it? To get an 8 sec time you have to stomp on the gas like your attacking a man eating spider the size of a dinner plate. Usually your tires will chirp.

Another thing I noticed is that initially your rpms shoot to 3000, but your speedometer still hasn't budged a bit.

that was out right stomped, and even though you can't hear in video..with trac control on tires did chirp just gettin hold of my buddy too see if I can borrow his obd2 scanner tonight

another thing i just thought of is maybe floor mat is holding me up a bit..had a ford aerostar do that..will get code read/cleard and maybe try that

thanks for any other input in mean time

TCS will slow down your car a lot. Launch with it off a couple times and experiment with how hard you stomp to maintain traction. On my old tires I had to back of a hair until 3500 rpm. On my new set I can stomp hard as I can and still only get a chirp.

so cel went away couple days after, but I was finally able to get the history checked last night...engine misfire :P so I will swap sparky's and maybe wires (wires look fine I will just make sure I dont break any, if I don't I will leave OEM in)...clean MAF sensor as well and hopefully be good to go!

10-4 back door, due to being in a small town change will happen most likley tommorow for parts to get in...but you never know slim chance maybe they got what I need! (no gm dealer)

wow that is slow my car with traction controll on will start spinning really good then my traction contriol goes on but i still spin for atleast 2 secs before traction controll kicks in, with traction control.....well i spin alot lol, last time i did stomped on the gas it burned for atleast 5 seconds and i only did that cause i was trying to bust my tranny befoer putting in the new one lol(it was slipping, hard shifting)

so new plugs and wires on friday, as well as air filter...cleaned msaf and air intake sesor as well...car runs a bit smoother which is to be expected i suppose..but still 12 sec 0-60 and when im hammering down on it expescially in higher rpm I still get a misfire (check engine starts to flash and slight hesitation kinda of bump in acceleration) though light does not stay on now...

Think next thing I will try is a little 1/4" hole just before my cat converter and see if that helps

High Rpm misfire could be caused by a fueling issue. Injectors can keep up at slow speeds, but fall behind at higher speeds maybe? I would suggest running some cleaner like seafoam through, couldn't hurt.

tried seafoam (1/3 in brake booster line, 1/3 crank case, and last third in gas tank)

no smoke and doing the same thing still...

try drilling hole out next i guess

well definitly hoping it's a plugged cat...just called gm dealer next town over and my car indeed qualifies for free replacment (10yr/120,000 mile)...I will pull front o2 sensor too see if there is abnormal back pressure and then look at getting them car asap...of course I have a 1100km trip to do this weekend first :-/
