Stock Exhaust size.

i went out and started my exhaust since it was nice out. Ran into a little problem i bought 2 inch adaptors but when i put them on my stock piping they were to big so i measured the pipe and it is 1 3/4 i measured it with two different tape measures so not sure why its that different. so what adaptor would i need to hook up a 2.25 muffler? also what size is the stock exhaust tips i want to reuse them so what adaptor would i need from a 2.25 outlet mmuffler to the tips also

1 and 7/8ths is what your piping to the muff should be.

tips are 2.25 IIRC.
