Stock CD player quit working

2000 GTP Daytona 500 edition. Have had it a few months and about a month ago the problem started. When I insert a CD after a few seconds it just ejects. Any suggestions or do I need to go after market? If I do go with a different head unit will it function through my steering wheel controls? Hoping someone can tell me a quick (and most importantly) a cheap fix. BTW, radio works great and a reason I am reluctant to go after market. I used to be one of those annoying stereo freaks with super loud systems and the best of the best but the radio reception was never as good as the reception I get out of this Bose unit.

im not sure how to fix your problem. all i can say is if you go aftermarket there are wiring kits to be able to use your steering controls (without it you will lose them). i have a pioneer DEH-33HD that has high def radio and the reception is great. but since it has a usb port i just hook my ipod into it and i can control that through the radio which is great. i would just go aftermarket if i were you theres so much good stuff out there.

U could just buy a replacement stock radio. I actually just saw on in the Fs section

get a xm or Sirius ready radio, and never have reception issues again? FM signals suck and if you travel where you lose reception, xm fixes all that for you. same channels anywhere you go. and XM is louder, its all digital. more channels then you have now. its got something for every one, thats for sure. i have 10 channels that are set in my presets, my regular fm, i got 2 stations i can deal with, so im a xm fan all the way.

i've been with them since 03 or 04. there is no other options for clear as a bell reception.

xm and sirius are really good. and if you are into music like hip hop and rap, the songs dont have to be edited or anything on xm/sirius lol.

they have every kind of radio experience your into, from talk, news, traffic and weather, comedy, all sports, nascar, indy, and music from soft christian music to hip hop, rock, classic rock, alternative rock, metal. rap, 50's, 60, 70's, 80's and 90's channels too. you name it they play it. and they are all commercial free, and some channels don't even have a host, NO TALKING to f up your music.

they did seem to pick up all or most of mtv original vj's. and a bunch of radio hosts from the NY area, and around the country. some i knew who they were as soon as i heard their voice. nina blackwood (from 80's mtvj)sounds like a washed up drunk now lol

im pretty sure they still do a 2 week free trial, on PC only, but at least you can see what your getting that way.

and if you like Howard stern, hes on Sirius, and Opie and Anthony are on XM

i have lots of friends who have switched over to O and A due to howards show really sucking these days, 3 live shows a week, and crappy shows.

and O and A are fvcking hilarious. if you have a sick twisted mind, you will love this show. this show is not for all women out there either, they find it most offensive lol its also one of those shows where you need to learn the players on the show, and try to catch up on all the inside jokes, from days gone past. so your in the loop of some jokes/comments.
