Stock Bose Stereo Replacement

Hey all,

I'm simply tired of having to burn CD's of my iTunes collection and want to replace the stereo head with something that will support MP3's and iPod connection but don't want to bugger up the look of the console.

I'm looking for suggestions. I'm not an audiophile per se but i want something that's going to sound good with the stock Bose amp. My other priority is not goofing up the look of the console and i also need something that will play nice with the HUD and SWI.

i'd appreciate suggestions (preferably with images)??

thanks,
dean

You won't find anything that works with HUD. If you want decent steering wheel controls make certain that the stereo allows PAC-SWI to plug in vs. using an IR sensor.

If you change out the stock radio then you've gotta say goodbye to the radio display on the hud. (unless u want to build ur own connection.)

As for the look, there are some mounting kits that blend better than what most stores sell. They have lettering in the grand prix font that glows to use of the extra space.

but if you really want it to look nice, then find one with a big display that just fits in the radio location.

Thanks guys,

sux about the HUD but i'll make sure that i get the PAC-SWI connection.

I had a look at the iPod kit. Not a bad option. While i was on the Crutchfield site i figured i'd let it show me the options for receivers and was surprised to see that i kicked back only single-DIN options. ??

Off to Google to find that a DIN is 2". Out to the car to find that there's 3.75" of openning. What the ??!!

So, the question becomes: Can your really _not_ fit a dual-DIN receiver in this space? Perhaps it depends on how close to the edge the receiver manufacturer has placed controls, etc.

anyone care to confirm this?

thanks,
dean

I dont think that double DIN fit at all which is why many people try to find a way to blend all the extra space with the console.

And i think that the HUD will still work with the ipod adapter.
