Still having wierd window problems

Ok so far I have replaced the motor, three times, the regulator twice and the switch once. Here's the story the drivers window started going up very slowly, them one day with started going up slowly as well then one day it went down and would not come up. I replace the motor and regulator and it was no help, would go down but not up. I changed the motor again same issue So I brought it to the shop down the street he said the motor was weak, this being the third motor I find it hard to believe, (he supposed tested all three, the last one I had pulled from the rear door of a 2003 with only 57,000 miles on it.) today I went out and loosened the nuts on the regulator (at the suggestion of a friend) worked great I tried it a few times up was ok down kept getting slower and slower then so did up then it just stopped like it was not getting power been going through this for about 3 months. Was going to buy a motor from ed morad but upon hearing the problem he agreed that it did not sound like a motor . So now I turn to you guys again. HELP!!

id check your grounds under the hood, battery, and the engine grounds, and the plugs to the motors, clean them up grease em up work the plugs in and out a few times.

also check the wires for damage as they come in and out of the doors. also the window switch plugs, clean and grease them up. and inspect for damaged wires there as well.

if you have a volt meter, you could test the draw off the wires while working the windows as well.

and are you doing this with the car off? or running? running (idling) parked, my window are kinda slow, driving down the road they move much faster. parked, engine off they are so slow its painful. and only get slower and slower as they steal from the battery.

today it was off other times I idling I just notice when I went fo a ride just now that the window seemed to work ok but then got a bit slower and this was driving funny thing is the passengers side is flawless

Sounds like it just needs grease. You've replaced almost everything. There is a track you can see inside the door, and there is also the window run channel. Inside the door, it's normal grease. The rubber window run channel should have silicon based spray.

Already tried greasing it before I put it in, plus it's as if the switch get no power yet it works fine outside the car

Here's something for you. Our motors are overall weak naturally. Check the window and track for any goop.

You can literally disable a window by peeling the seat belt sticker off it w/o cleaning the glue off. That's right..Been there...done that.

Shop said they checked the ground but thinking I may check it myself and Bill I will try that as well if that's all it is will scream LOL. No way to get a stronger motor is there?

Are all the window parts your using used? You didn't get none of them from Spartan did you! LOL JUST kidding. Have any of the parts been New? I have had 0 problems with new regulators.

LOL I did get them all out of the yard but the last motor was from the rear window of a 2003 with only 57,000 miles on it. The original motor lasted from 1997 until 2009 then when that went a I got a new aftermarket and regulator but that only lasted two years. Funny thing is it seems to be working now but if I try it repeatedly it fails

Thanky you, Thank you I cleaned the tracks real well, then lubed them up good with this teflon stuff by dupont (its a dry lube) and down is amazing up a tad slow but I know once I do tankers big one upgrade it will resole the rest of the issue. Thanks guys

Hi guys, n00b here. Just signed up for the forum and found this article which addresses my current issues.

What is TexasTanker's big one upgrade?

I have my daughter's 2000 GT 2-door that I'm trying to do some repairs on to get better resale value. I have replaced both regulators once and both stopped working again. I'll be sure to fully clean the channels this time to see if that helps. I've also got 2 new regulators on the way from e-Bay.

It's called the Alt. Re wire, run a (4 gauge or bigger) wire from the back of the alternator to the positive post on top of the fuse box. It helps speed up windows, brighten lights, stereo sounds better and helps all around.

tanker I did that and my car was harder to start according to everyone I need those grounds how'd you get around it?

Hmm when I did that mine too several cranks to turn over (usually takes half a crank) Bill boost and some guys suggested I needed to add two ground wires) MY onlt though is maybe I did not have the ends tight enough I will tray again

If you do the two grounds which are negative battery cable and engine to chassis, you will have completed the BIG 3 upgrade which most audiophiles do just for stereo upgrades IIRC.

Ok well all I added is a cb radio and 8 mall led light strips so I am guessing I can get away with the big one and probably just did not have something tight enough off tomorrow so I will give another try

Ok window is slow again and sticking my options are a new motor from GM (they say new I am betting rebuild) or a window and regulator combo from Doorman which would you guys go with? I am not sure if it is regulator or motor it will go almost completely up then stop I want a few seconds got down a little then up and it finish closing but REAL slow. Too much for a motor regulator combo from GM
