Sticky gas pedal

On my 2003 GT the gas pedal is sticky the first time you press it.

After the 1st time it works as normal.

Myself, my wife, and or my kids can leave a rather nice burn out in our driveway...not a good thing for a guy with 2 teenage drivers.

I think it is something like a sticky linkage? Where do I look, what do I do, how do I fix this? Not sure please advise.

This morning it was -5 at my house, getting tired of the cold...

Please advise.

Thank you,

Yes, clean the throttle body. Meaning, remove it, and clean the front and back with throttle body cleaner. This fixed mine.

And Black18Ice, yes thats the first thing that jumped into my mind too. :th_laugh-lol3:

spray the crap out of the tbody with tbody cleaner and open the throttle and clean around the plate real good with a rag. no need to remove.

this is grand prix forums, not camry forums lol. most likely what these guys are saying, you've gunked up your throttle body. time for a cleanin'

that happend to mine so i used brake cleaner and a baby bottle brush or something like that and it worked great

I have this problem too. Always meaning to post something about, but haven't had the time. Looks I will be cleaning my TB this weekend.

Don't forget to hit the throttle return spring with wd40 or some oil when you clean it.

x2, my old 94 z28 had the toyota problem until i did that. throttle stuck, and at WOT too. good thing i know how to turn a key off...lol

i have the same problem, and i'll be stealing this info, so thanks fellas! :th_thumbsup-wink: i guess it's just never bothered me enough to do anything about it. but i've designated spring break as my "work on car" week, so i'll probably get to it
