Stereo installation in a 2003 GTP

Now, I know there are lots of posts about installing stereos in the '97 - '03 GPs, BUT.... there is so much confusion, I would like to attempt to get all the info into one thread. So, I am throwing out this question to those that have installed stereos in these vehicles. The variables about this install are: 1) WITHOUT OnStar or Bose, 2) WITHOUT OnStar, but With Bose 3:) WITH OnStar and Bose, what is needed in way of wiring harnesses AND brackets. I have read that all that is needed is a simple plug with bare wires, or a wiring harness adapter kit. I have heard double dins need a bracket, and I have heard double dins need a "homemade" remedy. I have seen double dins that just fit behind the bezel and use a few pieces of plastic to fill the voids, and I have seen double dins that infringe on the heater controls below. So, what I am asking, is please post your installs, listing what you used and did to install your radio (as in what wiring did you need?). I am not so much concerned what your radio does, just what size (single or double din) If single din, was it a video unit, and did the video display go above or below the radio? Thanks to all who can help out.

Can anyone put up some pictures of how they mounted their replacement speakers in a Bose equipped car? I'm redoing all the wiring to put in an aftermarket amp and speakers but i keep hearing that aftermarket speakers wont just bolt right in.

Thankyou for hijacking my thread and changing the subject. :th_sign-hijack: :th_sign-putz:

So nobody has successfully installed a double din in their 2003ish Grand Prix? Someone has to of done this. Still wondering what harnesses you need to get this all done. I know about the steering wheel control harness, but am still confused if I need a simple wire harness to connect the head unit up to my Bose amp, or if I need one of the harnesses that has a module in it??

Looks not bad, but did you need a simple adapter that just plugged into the stock vehicle wiring and then soldered the wire connections to your deck, or did you need one of the special adaptors with a module in it? Also, did your car have the Bose system in it?

Metra is your friend. My 2005 took their GMOS-04 adapter plus the steering wheels control adapter. My car has the Monsoon amp and I've kept that as well as the stock speakers.

Does the 2003 have a double DIN mount? You may consider getting a single DIN head unit with a motorized, pop out screen.
