Steering linkage broke?

I was doing the "lower subframe cam install" and it seems that the steering linkage is broken. Wheel spins freely.

What do I do now, and where would it have most likely broken?

Sounds like the steering shaft came off the rack and pinion, or the steering shaft on the column slid apart.

U dropped rear subframe and did not remove rack bolts? Or remove u-joint pinch bolt?
