• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Steering feels loose, but no play in wheels

I got my car back from Big O Tires about a month ago. They replaced the driver's inner/outer tie rod and passenger wheel bearing. But ever since then it's felt 'floaty' when I drive it, like something's loose. It doesn't drift or anything, the alignment is spot on. At a stop light I can rock the steering wheel back and forth and hear a clicking from the engine bay. Today I jacked up both sides and checked for play in the wheel. Nothing. Nothing horizontal (steering) or vertical (bearing). I'm stumped.

By the way, I'm not sure if there's something wrong with the search engine, but I couldn't even search for 'inner'. I get 'tie' and 'rod' because those are three letter words (usually a search engine throws out words with three words or less), but 'inner' seemed like a really odd term for the search to consider too common. You might be able to remedy it with the Continue Search plugin: Continue Search - vBulletin.org Forum

That's what I'm afraid of. I'm worried the rack is going. It's got 208k miles, so it wouldn't surprise me. I haven't raised it up enough to look for anything else loose.
