Stealthee's Ride

I figured I've been here long enough that it was time to make my own thread here in member's rides.

I cleaned it up last weekend and snapped this photo

While, I was in the process of cleaning the exterior I figured it was time ton finally install my intake. After installing the intake I figured it was time to give the underhood a bath.

I'd say for a 143,000 mile car, it looks ok.

If I get this job promotion that I should be getting I plan on a GXP spoiler, SE lip, and better tips. I'll also go and replace the sandblasted headlights and fog lights and end up getting a basic respray on the paint.

Re: Tune up time

So, after watching my fuel mileage suffer worse and worse, I figured it was about time for a tune up. I plan on doing plugs, wires, upstream o2, supercharger oil, and maybe trans fluid.

I was told the plugs and wires were changed shortly before I bought the car. That was 30,000 miles ago. I am basically stock, other than the intake and downpipe, so what plugs am I best off going with? I know what I would run if this were my Stealth, but see all sorts of suggestions all over the forum.

I want to do the trans fluid, but damn does it scare me. Every car I have ever changed the trans fluid on has had the trans die not too long afterwards. Granted, all of those trans were probably on their way out and it was already too late, but it still causes trepidation. The fluid is dark, but its dark red. Do you think at 153k+ I should be okay? Do you think I should get a quart of Lucas and use that in place of a quart of ATF? And what ATF?

Sorry for all the questions. Makes me look like a noob, but I want to make sure I have everything locked down, then I can go pricing everything.

Thanks

Re: Tune up time

Ugh. In my RockAuto cart I currently have plugs, wires, o2 sensor, and trans filter and it is at about $105. Sucks because stuff is coming from 3 different locations. I still need to get the trans fluid, and lucas. Thats another $70 from what I have found so far.

Maybe I will break this up. Either break up the installs, or break up the buying and install all at once at a later date. :/ I mean, I have money in savings, but I really don't want to touch it. Damn I need a better job.

Haven't updated in awhile so here it goes.

Car was filthy this past weekend so it got some love

Before

After

She was a dirty Gert

This was the result of just a wash

I found this nice scuff once it was clean, grr.

I bought Turtle Wax Black Box and figured I'd give it a shot.

This is the result after just using the pre wax cleaner

And this is the result after wax.

And this is the scuff

I did this all by hand. No buffer.

I posted this in the "What did you do to your car today" thread, but I will post it here too.

My filter was in need of replacement so I had a custom one made for my application.

Old filter vs new filter

Installed

If you didn't notice I have installed new headlights and new fog lights.

There is also a minor difference from the dirty prewash pictures to the post wash/wash pictures. See if you notice it. ;)

I think the car looks great for having over 155,000 miles.

LOL, I get that a lot. I've even had people spell it stealhee with a missing T. The name is stealthee, like I am one stealthy mo fo. :p

Hell yeah it is. I didn't pay anything for the old filter. It was one that had an issue with QC. There was structurally nothing wrong with it, but it got messed up coming out of the mold, so it went into the "scrap" pile. I grabbed it because it had the 4" inlet.

They can make anything from breather filters and even up to huge 7" inlet velocity stack filters.

Black cars Rule!!!!
That scuff disappeared pretty good...what did you use? just the blackbox wax or?
I have a nasty scuzz on my passenger side from a curb on a steep drive

Just the Black Box kit.

If I actually went over the car and polished and buffed it with a buffer, I could only imagine how it would come out.

I flushed the tranniy on my 1997 GT several times BUT I should state that I am the original owner this was at 60,000, 150,000, then 250,000 and 300,000 however now I have deceide to jus change the fluid and filter once a year I figure I do it that often there is no need to flush
