Guys / Gals, I have a 2004 GT with about 65K on the ticker and I have been having a hell of a time with an intermittant starting problem. Get in the car, turn the key on and crank it over and the engine starts and then immediately quits.... no idle time, just quits as quick as it started Do it over and over again and then for what ever reason it starts and stays running. This happens when it's cold first thing in the morning, may do it after running for 30 minutes... It's very random when it wants to act up. The check engine light isn't coming on and once it starts, it runs fine, no stalling after wards, good power, no surging, nothing. Any thoughts on this? Anyone ever have a similar experience?

Ok, I understand needing the proper fuel pressure but why would it be so intermittant and random. Think the pump is flaking out? Could it be the fuel filter getting some restriction when the pump turns on and then back flowing once it cuts out... know what I mean?

I have been having the same problem. Sometimes it just dies while I am driving. Once I pull over the car will turn over but not start.
I had it in for service and they replaced the cam sensor thinking that was it. The problem persisted.
I had another shop scan the car when it was in the phase of not starting and they pulled up 2 body codes and a communications code.
I am currently at the mercy of a dealership as a regular garage can not get any further with codes. They believe it is either an interrmittent module failure or possibly a problem with the chip in the key not being recognized.
Hope this helps or gives someone more insite into a solutution.

Dude I ran into the same problem on a buick regal but I mean it only started once every ten starts. The Map sensor was broken in have for the intermittent run problem and the TPS had gone bad,,,

mine does the same....no code....but mine starts when its cold idles fine then when i put it in gear it acts like it wants to stall.... it stumbles and catches itself and runs fine....once in awhile it the rpms hesitate a little but other than that....kinda think its tps since i just put a new fuel pump in it

Mine used to do the same thing. No codes or anything. Check the fuel pump switch it's on the left side of the engine bay on the inside of the fendor under the wiper fluid. Kind of a U shape electrical connector. Clean it off with a cue tip and alcohol and make sure its together nice and tight. Do you smell the strong stinch of fuel coming from under the drivr side of the car when you try to crank it? If so change that fuel filter under there also. Lastly clean off your MAF sensor the same way along with all the other sensors that plug into the throttle body. If none of this works check ALL of the vacume hoses. (especially where they connect/end). Any lose fittings or cracks can cause you to stall on some of these.

Well the problem is still there. Tried the key thing (used both keys) and I'm still having the same issues. Gonna head under the hood and start cleaning sensors / connectors and change out the fuel filter. This thing is going to leave the family stranded sooner or later and that's not gonna make mama very happy. Keep the assistance coming guys, my sanity is in your hands:confused:
