Starter Wiring Clarification Needed

2 posts on the starter have wires

Small one - purple wire
Larger one - black, red then big black

Stud holding trans to motor - 3 ring terminals?

In short.. yes.. you are correct.
 
Good man, thanks for the pics. BTW I got hit in the head by a starter bolt - damn thing felt like it was threaded
