Stalling problems

My 91 Grand Prix is having some issues. On start up, it will rev really high for about 30-40 seconds. It will then go back down to regular idle speeds while its still in park. As soon as I shift it out of park though, it will start shaking and sputtering until I step on the throttle. When I open up the throttle going down the road, it will do just fine at normal speeds. But when I start to slow down to come to a stop, it will start acting up again. When I come to a stop, the engine will shake for a few seconds, and then promptly die. Any suggestions?

sounds like a misfire of epic proportions. check all your plugs and wires.

maybe a huge vacuum leak as well.

Just going of what little information that has been given so far, I’m going with a gummed up throttle body or a faulty MAF sensor.

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the plugs or the wires, and i can't find any vacuum leaks for the life of me. I think i might change the maf sensor to see what that does. Otherwise, i'll just assume its the throttle body.

The problem seems to have resolved itself. I ran some fuel system cleaner throug, and everything seems to be working fine now.
