so i recently put my s&s headers and my 3" catback exhaust on........ havent drove the car since lol......... first off me and my freind had to take off the egr valve to make room for our hands and crap....... now since i no longer have a cat ...i m buying the o2 emulator...... i have nothing in the rear o2 spot for now.....would taking off the egr valve mess ne thing up or would my car be doing this because of the rear sensor not being in....i read that the rear o2 sensor has nothingt o do with the gas to air ratio because its just for reading the cat..... soooo im thinking something is wrong wit my egr valve??? anybody have ne thoughts before i spend even more money!

If done properly taking the egr off wont hurt anything. just make sure you seal everything up good. And no the rear 02 is not the problem.

SES light?

Vacume leaks?

All sensors plugged in? IAC? TPS?

well i m officialy pissed off.....i checked all sensors, i checked all spark plugs because we removed them too,i looked over the egr valve to see if i noticed nething wrong with it,and i made sure the o2 sensor on the headers was in.........idk what to do......... on wbstores site they said u might have to move the 02 sensor cause it is only reading 1 cylinder but i dont think that would give me these problems....after i checked everything i started it up and it was idaling rough and the lights were diming every few secs.....then after about 2 mins it started to run fine and then all of the sudden stalled out and after that when i started it back up it ran crappy again

That o2 sensor location won't do that. Do you have a ses light on?

yes....... i changed the gasket on the egr valve and i bought a new o2 sensor for the fron on the headers.....now im resetting the chip in hopes that it will pick up new readings from the new o2 sensor lol...prob not gunna work but idk what else to do

Have it scanned. There is no point in just throwing parts at it. With a little luck you may fix the symptom, but until you scan it for codes and follow the diagnostic trouble tree, you are just wasting money.

I have a feeling i am thinking way to far out of the box but i had this exact problem with a faulty battery. The vehicle would idle poorly, lights would dim and the vehicle would stall unless given gas. After checking the alternator and some other things i found out the battery wasn't taking a charge.

If you exhaust other options maybe you'd wanna check that out.

The car should be able to run off of the alternator with the battery disconnected. If not your alt's bad.

It ran, just poorly, with the symptoms described above. Cant recall 100% what was checked but a battery replacement was the solution to said problem. [This was a few years ago memory is a bit rusty.]

edit: I remember giving it gas would keep the car from stalling would this have possibly rev'd a failing alternator up to working speed? [Not really my area of expertise]

yeah good suggestion...sometime it's the little things that we over look that are the cause of the biggest problems lol

yeh i cant figure it out...but i dont think it will drive thats y i cant have it scanned so looks like im gunna have to tow it

When you pulled the plug out of the EGR you may have tugged a wire and pulled it out of the connector. Check all of the pins in the connector and make sure you didn't damage the connector pulling it out of the valve. All of the pins should be at the same depth in the connector.
