Stall Converters and Traction question.

My old camaro had a 2,500 stall and all I remember was not being able to get traction worth a damn on street tires. That car made around 290 rwhp (zz4 crate 350) and leaving out of even a stop sign was tricky if it was raining lol.

I'm just curious if our cars have this issue with traction and stall converters once you start adding power, and how the traction control system behaves with the added stall speeds under normal daily driving conditions.

id run a stock stall speed if its a daily driver. when running a higher stall speed it allows the engine to be able to climb to a higher rpm range so you are in your power range for a better launch off the line. thats why your camaro was spinning the wheels off the line.

i think stock is 1800, not 100% sure tho. and by speed its meant to be the rpm the tach will rise to when holding the brake and giving it the gas.

if your making a track car run a higher stall for sure, it will help you to get out of the hole faster. but you will need slicks im thinking for sure. especially if you have other power mods.

Due to the torquey nature of boosted 3800's.... Stock converters work for 999/1000 of what people are trying to do.... A higher stall may give you a very insiginificant upgrade in 0-10mph performance... but I am doubting it would be worth the power loss at the top end.

well hell. thats just a camaro for ya lol. the two i had (86 with a 305 and a 79 with a 468) woulent hook for s#!t. especially in the rain.
in these cars a stock converter is fine unless your tryin to build a 9sec car

Thanks for the info, I was anticipating the response from most people was going to to be to leave stock alone on a DD, but if people overwhelmingly said that a stall shaves tremendous time of of E.T's I may have sacrificed some streetability for some fun.
