SS M90 kit worth it??

hey i have been slowly modding my 1998 gp gt for about a year now, and now im really thinking on supercharging it, but i cant decide wether its worth the money or not. I went to zzp's website and priced everything out, with shipping and taxes (stupid HST) it comes out to 2550$ canadian. ( i live in vancouver BC) I already have a CAI, DP, mufflers, tune, ZZP HV3, The list includes:

ported blower
ported LIM
#33 injectors
3.8 SSM90 pulley
Billet Fuel logs
Voltage booster
Fuel pump rewire kit
SSm90 kit

So please help me here, IS IT REALLY WORTH IT?? i mean what gains do u think il get? how much HP u think il be putting out? what 1/4 mile time? im hoping for mid 14's. But are there any other alternatives? ive considered selling my GT and buying a GTP and starting from scratch but ive put alot of maintenance work into mine, (brakes, tranny, cooling system, new gaskets.) I also got a LIM and blower from a wrecker but its not in the greatest condition and i heard that ZZP is kind of picky with that and i wont get the full core refund, so if that happens thats not an option.

I just want to hear what u guys have to say, and hear your ideas. Help me decide! Or just tell me will the gains be worth 2550$!!!! plz just no flaming

For sure just top swap you get better gains. The ssm90 is just made so you can take the easy way out while installing. Plus with that amount of money you could add headers and have everything ported plus rockers. I considered the kit too but found out its a 2 belt lame set up. Now im top swapping with the mods above for far less than $1200

Im no tech savvy, i can do abit but i got a friend who can do this stuff no prob. So less work is a plus for me lol. Where are you getting all of your parts for your top swap??

The only thing on that list I would keep is the ported blower. Otherwise just get everything off of a GTP. You only need fuel logs if you go intercooled.

Better gains from top swapping? Please explain this.If you mean better gains per dollar MAYBE..... Price isnt going to be much different from one to the other all things being equal. You have to remember it comes with ported blower, lim and fuel logs, and a custom tune to your setup. You can also hack up your stock rails and run them if you wish and save 450 bucks and skip the logs. You also save some money on gaskets and alot on labor(if you cannot do it yourself) If you go ssm90 be sure to pick up a cheap core for the blower to save about 300-400 more

Another advantage is you are not relying on used or high mileage parts. You know your cars history(this is why I SSm90ed as opposed to topswap.

To run a 3.8 pulley on your l36 Id recommend headers or atleast a plog. Oh and be sure you have some sort of scan tool

why the SSM90 kit sucks (in my opinion):

- single belt setup
- can only run an SSIC because of [edit: injectors, i guess]
- the pulleys are way more expensive and hard to find
- you are limited to pulley sizes and you'll eventually run out of room to grow
- the price tag

if you can get over those things, then you'll be just fine with an SSM90 kit. otherwise if you want to actually go somewhere with your setup a top swap is much more capable of supporting an actual build.

People have run full size Ic's on the SSm90 kits. Its not hood clearance Rather Injector clearance issues. W body stores fullsize fits with little alittle modification. Single belt set up isnt as bad as everyone thinks, Ive run the 3.25 with no slip or issues. Im currently running a 3.4 with no slip(had to much knock for the 3.25)

You can switch to a GTP pulley set up rather cheap. But yeah you are limited to a 3.25 pulley if you use the single belt setup.(which is like a 2.9 or 3.0 gtp pulley)

either way, id feel better off spending money on other things besides just the ssm90 kit. for the price of it you can cam your car at the same time as a top swap and take it much further.

its $2500 with parts from ZZP, not $2500 from a guy who is demodding :D

the ssm90 kit is a good kit. i swapped to the GTP style crank pulley and ran regular mod pulleys with no issue. my car went low 13's with my kit and i have no complaints. i didnt have to swap the heads and installed it in an afternoon
