Sputter and loses power when turning



power steering pump could be putting too much load on the engine... would make the rpms fall and the alt would loose speed causing power to drop too...

or maybe the belt tensioner is going and the extra load from the PS is causing the belt to slip.
 
Does your friend drive a GP, if so...what year?

Could be broken baffles in the tank or a host of other things. Does it only do this when under 1/2 tank?
 
I will ask him, he is a friend on FB and he is thinking about selling it because of it. I'm pretty sure its around 2002-02.
