SPO Spoiler: Paint vs Wrap

Does anyone have any experience with painting and/or wrapping?

I picked up an SPO spoiler and want to put it on my car, but it needs some love first. Would wrapping it black look tacky vs having it painted to match? I don't really want to spray paint it.

Yes, it is black now, but it isn't as shiny as the rest of the car.

I'm in the minority here but I'm a huge fan of plastic dip check out dipyourcar.com. everything under the sun. Hyper shifts, pearls, metallics, glossifiers you name it sprayable gallons and arisols.

I love the stuff mainly because if I get bored of a certain look I can peel it and do something entirely different.

How much would it cost to have it wrapped vs. having a shop paint it? I agree there are advantages to Plasti-dip but if you don't plan on changing the color of it then I'd just have a shop spray it and call it done. It may cost more but looking at the condition of the GP I'd hate to see a dull/mis-colored spoiler on it. Also not sure how dip holds up to that Texas sun.

Dip when done right holds up for 3 year tops, sun doesn't bother it.

I've had pretty good success with rattle can black, specificaly with GM, Toyota & Mazda products. Might be a cheaper option too, if you already have sand paper, polish, etc. Link below is for the deck lid from my old GS300 after I debadged it and had to repair the paint that was under the badges.

Thanks for the input. I am going to call a couple places and see what they would quote me for it.

Looks like we can wrap it for less than $50, but I tend to lean towards FordMan's comment. I would also hate to see it be dull or mismatched to the rest of the car..

I'll update with costs and what we decide to do when we get to it.

Not sure what Texas shops are charging for paint but for prep/color change on my MPD F1 hood my local shop was just about $400. I would guess that a spoiler would run about $150-180 assuming you don't have them re-install it.

I bought my used Gen I SLP spoiler from a member on here almost 11 years ago and it was painted to match when I bought it, came off the same color car. It is just now starting to flake a bit of the clear off of it after I've put around 242K miles on it. And no, it's not always been garaged. I can still shine it up good with polish/wax at this point. Just sayin....
