Split ratio rocker question

If I install split ratio rockers in my L36, is it necessary to upgrade the valve springs as well or would it be ok to leave the stock springs in? Will not changing springs result in valve float?
 


I'd never install anything with a higher rocker ratio on stock springs if it is more than 1.84:1. Also...keep your shift points at 6K or lower.

L36 cars tend to like ZZP ER Rockers anyhow...and you'll want some flow mods and a tune to get the most out of them.
 
i used my stock springs and havent had any problems. i did a few exhaust mods first to get the most out of it.
 
How long have you been running them with stock springs? I have headers and a GMPP exhaust so got exhaust mods covered. Is there another way to tell if you're getting valve float besides having it dynoed?
 


been running them with stock springs since i did the mod. 6100 rpm shift point with hv3 too. if i could do it again, i would ditch the er's and just go with the hv3. with my current mods, the ER's drain the bottom end

nope. i live in bfe. no dyno for 100 miles and no track for 150

ER's do not lose bottom end power. you're still on the stock cam meaning all you've done was increase overall lift. you did not change the actual powerband. therefore, you are crazy.
 


I did not replace the springs on mine. I installed the ER rockers with very low miles. I also don't go to the track. I just added some mods to make it a little nicer daily driver. If I did go to the track then for sure I would replace the springs.
 
ive heard that some people are having problems with the ls1 springs. i would skip the L76 and go with some tight zzp springs.

Because ZZP doesn't make valve springs guy. Care to elaborate why L76 springs aren't good enough? Because they are just fine for a rocker car.
