Speed sensor issue

Just replaced the tranny in 97 GT with 3.8 not supercharged with great help from this site. All went ok until now. The car now will rev at about 40 mph and feel as if transmission is slipping. It started a day or two after everything was fine. I was told it may be a speed sensor. Are these the sensors located on the hub assembly? I noticed brackets are flimsy and wondered if there is a correct distance from wheel it should be and if this would create the current issue.

Thanks

The VSS is located on the diff of the trans. Held down with a metal holder and 10mm bolt with stud sticking up for the wiring to clip onto. Usually this will throw a code. Most trans codes don't set a check engine light. Have it scanned for a code. Might give you more insight. Typically if VSS goes back your speedo doesn't work properly and the pcm puts the trans in limp mode.

So the speed sensor IS located on transmission. I was told they were on hub assembly. Thanks for the correct heads up. Please tell me it's relatively easy fix, transmission replacement was enough fun for now.

Well... let's clear this up further.

VSS - vehicle speed sensor is on the trans.
WSS - Wheel speed sensors are on each wheel.

VSS tells the pcm the speed of the vehicle and output etc for gear ratio info.
WSS tells the abs the speed of each tire for abs and low tire info.

The VSS is mounted on top of the output of the diff on the passenger size. It's a two pin connector I believe. I forgot to plug this sensor in before I test drove my car and OMG I thought my transmission was going to fall out shifting gears.. If that's limp mode, I'd question what joker programmed that!!! LOL
