• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Speed Daddys won't go in!

I think i got a bad crossover pipe or something.

No matter what i do the cross over pipe isn't fitting. It keeps hitting the steering column. If i put the front manifolds in, then put the crossover pipe in, it'll hit the steering column..or if i put the rears in than attach the crossover pipe it doesn't come close to lining up with the front. Also can't get the TB back on... because it hits the crossover pipe. I believe the bends are wrong somewhere...I am truly stumped and probably not making sense.

But, also, when i put the rear header in, then attached the DP...that f*cker hangs low as heck! There's probably less than 5 inches clearance from the ground; and no im not lowered. Im about to cut my losses and return these SD and get another brand...idk tho

They'll fit.

Take a good picture of the crossover pipe by itself.

Rear header should go on nice and loose (bolts just barely started into the head) and the the crossover nice and loose, and then slip the front header on the crossover, then swing it up and into place on the front head. Get everything squared up and then start tightening it up.

PS. You do have the crossover pipe facing the right way, right?

Also does yours hang super low aswell?? Like i am afraid to drive with that DP in there... i feel it will crack on a pothole like right away..

You have to leave both headers loose so you can wiggle everything around. Also make sure you have the crossover facing the right way.
Pics of what you're doing will help us out.

Also if there is indeed a real issue, speed daddy will exchange your parts until it's right.

Well im going to try again tomorrow since i am using a shop since its too cold in my garage to do this.

Im gonna put the rear in first as loose as possible, then the crossover, then the front header and use the mallet to get the two connected hopefully

For mine I did cut off maybe 1/4in or so off the pipe going into the front header, made it slightly easier to get it in.

And thre are going in the right way correct??

I'm lowered just over 2" and the only time I've ever hit my downpipe on the rear header is when going over absurdly tall speed-bumps. Never hit even bottoming the suspension out.

The trick I noticed was to get the crossover as close to it's final position as possible before slipping the front header in. You'll have to wiggle **** around, but when it does go, it'll slip right in.

Im just gonna return these. i am tired of aftermarket stuff not fitting right. Before i start tearing my hair out, I'm gonna buy the ported manifolds from 3800performance instead.. they are direct replacements and they prob flow just as well then these SDs.

Anyone know if the 04+ DPs are restrictive? I know they don't have the bend in them and all.

Well sounds like you don't want to put the effort into getting them on that tells me one thing..lazy

After you pay for return shipping you really are better off keeping down they will flow better then porter manifolds, now a manifold/downpipe combo would probably be comparable. There's guys trying to help you, you just need to post some pictures so we can see what exactly you got. I'm sure they for right it's just a bit of a art to get then on correctly.

Well the car is at my buds shop where we worked on it since 8 AM, and we stopped at 5PM, so were not "lazy" and i can't get pics at this time.

Did you follows build thread on how to install headers the easy way? Bet that would of saved you a little time.. I'm saying lazy because since you had a issue your quitting now, so your going to go back through all that work to remove them where I'm betting it'll take less time to install them correct.

Really? Its not that hard. Did you drop the subframe?
On a side note, Im running a 4" drop btw and scraped once.

Yeah it shouldnt be that hard, my bud has done headers for years...and we were still having fitment problem. :th_depressed: we obviously have a faulty crossover pipe. I already contacted SD, see what they can do, might keep them might not, we'll see :)
