First let me say I'm not a mechanic so try this at your own risk. hehe

Yes the rear O2 from the C5 will work for the front like blue said. After some searching on LS1tech, I found that some swap their Bocsh 13444 for 13111(c5 rear) because they work fine and have long leads. The 13444 is also compatible with 96-02 3800 camaros front and rear. The SMP sg272 is another one that also is compatible with 97-02 3800 camaro front (they have 2 fronts for the 3800 btw) which also fits our 97-03 3800 front.

So to sum up, the 13111 = 13444 = SG272. Its hard to get any website to say this only because of the lead length(longer is considered "incompatible"). I still have to verify the pinout of the connector so off to the GM Service manual I go.
 
The Bosch 13111 is bigger so it kinda defeats the purpose, but other C5 O2s are small.
What you're looking for is one like this:

This is for an '02 corvette specifically.

Pinout is exactly the same, only difference is the pink wire(D) is brown.

A=low signal
B=high signal
C=ground
D=PCM
ours: A=TAN B=PPL C=BLK D=PNK
C5: A=TAN B=PPL C=BLK D=BRN

Told you peoples...we just did this last weekend ;)

We cut the factory harness and spliced in the C5 one...and just matched the pink/brown wires.
 


Splice? The only reason you`d splice is if you used the front C5 sensor as it has a different flat connector. The rears ARE plug-n-play. Same square connector. I`ll buy one and try it, if I`m wrong I`ll be the first to post it:p
 
One thing you have to watch is that even though the connector is the same, make sure the wires are in the right place in the connector. We sell universal O2 sensors at work (autozone) and they have that connector but you have to put the wires where they go in the connector yourself (pretty much building the connector) because lots of cars can use this mass produced cheaper O2 sensor that uses this same connector but the places that wires go into the connector can be different which is why they leave the wires placement up to you....So just make sure that even though it has the same connector that the wire placement in the connector is also the same....
 
Hmmm yea, I picked up an O2 sensor just like the one in the pic I posted in this thread. Looks like splicing IS necessary after all. Even though its the same pinout, same connector, rear O2's have a male plug, and fronts have female. Go figure.

No prob tho, it is a smaller sensor which is the main plus. The other is that it has long wires so no extension is necessary. I'll just splice in a female connector coming off the wiring harness. THEN it will be plug-n-play.
