I'm not picking on Ford by the way, this is just to show that even new cars have orange peel, since some of you were so critical of the orange peel on my car.

by orange peel your talking about how the black doesnt like smooth and look like it has an texture right?

Yes that is orange peel. Don't really see it that much on factory paint jobs though. Usually you end up with orange peel on aftermarket paint from not laying down the clear right.

oh ok just checkin
i kinda of like it, give the black a kinda of dimension, on some colors it might not look good at all, but if your going for a smooth look then yea they f'ed up

^^^ lies, it doesn't reflect anything off the paint very well, esp. black
black should look like a mirror not a fuzzy window

Most new cars have a little orange peel in them. Something to do with refracting harmful rays from the sun or some $hit like that. The paint is supposed to last longer. I read it somewhere. But with some 1500-2000 grit wet sanding and buffing. Will look like a mirror.

Uhh, every factory paint job has orange peel. Unless you are talking about a Rolls or the like.

Yeah, every car tends to have a degree of orange peel. Hell, I just got done spraying a new bumper for my Eclipse, and after I was done, I got pissed, because now, I get to look at a nearly flawless bumper, but nasty fenders/hood...

But man, that black Mustang is unacceptable...It's not just wavy, it's also pitted...

My old man nabbed up a new '11 last year...it's a V6 car...no orange peel.

So...the trick is...buy a cheapo one and toss a supercharged V8 in?
