Speakers

So I'm going to start piecing together a audio system for my 2001 coupe. I'm looking for all new speakers. Throwing in one 10 or two 10 inch subs in the trunk. What are the favorite speakers for these cars. My budget is 400-500 dollars for the speakers

I have 2 10 inch Pioneers from Wal-Mart in a ported box, along with the 550w Sony Xplode amp they sold at Wal-Mart, got the subs and amp for free so I can't explain, and everyone always assumes that I have a couple grand in the trunk.

I got my subs and amp figured out besides how many subs I'm putting in. All I got to figure out what speakers to get for the doors and rear. I was thinking of trying to find an gym car with the Bose system in it. and stealing some speakers

To much work to do that. Better off getting an aftermarket component system.
There is a thread somewhere on here for modding the front doors to fit 6.5".

Don't bother with the rear shelf. With proper front speakers you won't miss it. Get some decent component 6.5s for the front doors. I have some Pioneer TS-D1720Cs in my front doors and they are amazing, especially for a 100 bucks.

I just have one Pioneer 10 in a sealed box in the trunk. Definitely not the most bass around, but enough to keep me happy. Still makes all my mirrors dance.

I have 2 12 dhani jones special editions in the trunk and run kenwood all the way around includeing my head unit. Pioneer and Kenwood are usually the best to go with. Only plus with my kenwoods is they've never gone staticy as opposied to my pioneers I had, they were the champion series to. But tbh they sound almost identical haha.

I run Infinity Kappa component speakers in everything I own. They seem to have the best balance to my ears. These are not on the cheap end and may run you over your budget a little.

5.25 Performance Mids (slight high end) - http://tinyurl.com/vfldoors - $67.89 You could wire these to the radio if you want to save money but these rely on a good mid tune with some power and the tweeters would blow out since you have to set from the head unit

6x9 Performance Mids -
http://tinyurl.com/vfldeck - $113.11 same as above

10" Subwoofer -
http://tinyurl.com/xosubs10 - $86.08 pretty solid entry sub

Use the factory tweeters if you have them in the front for the high end

Sub Amp (800RMS) -
http://tinyurl.com/phantomvflhybrid -$149.00 Good power. More than enough for the sub.

HeadUnit -
http://tinyurl.com/pionheadunitbt - $129.00 Pioneers are solid head units. They do good processing and a bad ass EQ

I would do something like this but since I dealt with sound system woes and etc, I would just save up for a little more than this.

I went to Crutchfield.com, found the JL speakers that fit my car, and then purchased them new on eBay for a fraction of the price.

I would advise against buying used Audio equipment

Ive got Kenwood speakers in my car and love them. Really should have an amp to power mine as the 17watts/ channel my aftermarket sony head unit puts out is not nearly enough to power them. I run a single pioneer 10in sub in the rear and wish I had a second one in there. The 1 10in does a decent job for adding bass to the music without pi$$ing off everyone and their brother but I think with another 10in i'd be fine. A little more bass without turning your car into a rattle machine.
