Speaker problems with new HU & amp??

I have a 2000 and pulled out the radio to install a new amp and HU. Until I save some more $$, I planned on reusing the GM speakers.

I have the power side of the HU & amp working fine but the GM speakers won't play. I re-wired the rears directly off the amp with no luck?? I wired up an old 5x7 i had laying around (came off an F-150) and it worked fine ... so I am pretty sure I had things wired right.

Does anyone know why the speakers wouldn't work.
 


it probably has a factory amp in it then look behind the back seat in the trunk , but if you wired up the rear speakers directly to the amp it should have done something
 
Solved the problem ... the rear left speaker was bad AND my h/u had dropped the right channel. So, when I went to test the set up before setting everything in dash - stuff wasn't working right. After a good night's rest and a clear head it took 45 minutes to diagnose the two problems.
