hi my 99 gtp needs plugs, its stock besides cai.. i plan to do log and down pipe first just wondering if i should run oe ac delco's or somthing better i dont mind changing them sooner if a differnt plug is going to work better.. thanks

most everybody here swears by ac delco coppers - they dont last as long but seem to work better.

and when i say they dont last as long , coppers a few years - to double platinum that last a decade or more.

There is a few threads on this in this forum.

I have ac delco special double platinums - ultra fine wire center

IMHO ;)

Here is the deal guy...

#1: Check out the link in my signature...read away till yer eyes bleed

#2: You want the hottest spark you can get away with, not the coldest...contrary to popular belief...people thinking cold cold plugs can kill knock when in fact the car just runs crappier, gets junky MPG's...etc.

#3: Cerick is right. For minor bolt-ons with a stock pulley, you want Autolite 605's...gap them at .050". I'd also recommend removing the coil packs, cleaning under them (getting rid of all the dirt and grime on the ICM that the coils sit on...), sand down and clean the coil pack terminals them selves...re-install...add a pea sized amount of electrical grease on the coil terminal...then toss on some new Lifetime warranty plug wires from your local auto parts store.

That should do wonders for the car igntion wise, especially if it hasn't been done yet.

You do know these ignition systems don't particulary like platinum plugs, right? That's why we always recommend the copper or irridiums due to the plats getting chewed up by our waste-spark system. If you start getting misfires or a rough idle I'd check the plugs.

I've run every brand and every type in my car. The only ones I've ever had problems with were Champion copper core plugs.

Not a single problem with Bosch Pt, NGK Ir, NGK Pt, Delco Pt.

Since changing the back ones are such a royal PITA, I would get Pt or Ir.

Back plugs are easy.

The last kind of plug you want is a Platinum in these cars.

Iriduims are for stock cars only.

All the other plugs
Try to beat them
but run iridiums, maybe?

Before iridiums came into my life,
I changed plugs so often
I changed plugs so often
I changed plugs so so often

I cleaned, gaped and replaced
Have new wires for real
I didn't know copper won't last
But they were in myyyy car

I do like coppers, and the platinums i have are really good, and i do believe because they are tapered, and double platinums.
The ones in my car are atleast 4 years and show no wear, but regular and double platinums dont flow as much spark energy as coppers.

My tapered center DP's may not produce the same spark as coppers, but the car runs great, and no problems.

But Coppers do produce a better spark, just because they are copper = copper conducts very well.
and dont look ath the copper plugs funny, cause copper is goldish color and copper plugs are silver color - that is the nickel covering so they last longer.
