Hi im noure im new here just purchased a pontiac grand prix from 2006.. i was wondering if you could help me identify a part. the car has been being filled with moisture since day one and upon inspection behind the engine it looks like the yellow seal thats supposed to seal id assume the air tubes into place has a giant crack in one of the corners. i could upload a picture if no one can identify it to try and help but im hoping i can repair this myself sop just let me know if you know what it is please

noure i would think it was the heater core from what you describe , the search box is at the very top of the page and is kida hidden b/c it is black just look for the magnifying glass. pics would help and good luck it is football sunday not sure how many people are looking at threads today.

i would post up pics of the hose you found first , and then go from there might be a hose to the heater core and that would be good news for you .

when you say filling with moisture? how so, the windshield? or the floor is wet? little more info on that please.
the floor is moist on both sides but only wher my feet go not the entire floor. and theres no leaking of water into the car that i can see. also all the windows are fogged on the inside even while driving once i turn the AC off it fogs back up

got a sweet smell to it as well?

and is the car loosing coolant?

im thinking the heater core is leaking. its located dead center of the dash, in that black plastic box in front of the console.

you can take the heater hoses off the fire wall and one off the inlet or out let tube from the engine, and just loop it for now to see if it stops leaking and or fogging the windows.

k ill try that thanks. so that ac core from the pic i posted is damaged due to the crack? or is that normal

what in the pic is nothing, its leaking from the core its self. it looks like a small radiator, and coolant flows through it, its how the heater works in the car.

you can also buy a pressure tester, it goes in place of the rad cap, and you pump it up to so many psi, then go looking for the leak, at this point it would be a good idea to have the carpet pulled up so you can see a active leak.

heater cores a bit of a pita to do, but can be done in a few hours. lots of little screws holding layers together.
