• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Something does not smell right!

I'm cruising home and I get this really strong exhaust odor in my cabin. It smells like a slight burning smell. Weird thing is my MPGs are doing fantastic. I'm still driving and temp looks good no codes flashing. Any thoughts? This occurred while on cruise control goin 70

Update. The AC was on so I shut that down and smell went away minutes later. The smell reminded me of that new exhaust synthetic smell after a fresh instal. But I've put a couple thousand on my new exhaust so I'm kinda thrown? Anyone else experience this issue?

And since it was due I swung by Jiffy lube for my oil they reported a possible transmission leak... I am bout to go check it out myself let me know your thoughts thanks

So I got the car all jacked up and I think the dooods at JiffyLube were off about the leak nothing seems to be leaking after taking a look it might have been that coolant overflow when the car has been running for a while?

So I made sure all the new suspension parts were good and torqued and I noticed that my new Front Sway barely hits my Down Pipe, could this be causing the odd smells?

rear valve cover is leaking when you see oil on the tranny's back side of the pan.

the sway bar looks like its hitting the DP too. you may want to flip it over.

re looking at your pics your engine must be as oily as the trans. its greasy looking for sure.

Thanks Scott ive never serviced my valve covers before I was a half quart low when I did my oil change maybe its time to learn this task...

As far as the sway bar goes what do you mean by flipping it over? I thought that there was only one way they fit due to the bends? Will shorten dog bones pull it off? I also have engine and trans spacers I was going to install those when the new suspension settled in. I was also going to flip my dog bone bushings this weekend as well. Hope one of these helps, installing that sway bar was a Beeyatch!

in post #4 second pic the black bar pink tag is rubbing against exhaust pipe will eventually cause a hole in the pipe, and vibration.

What did it smell like? Sweet smell? Burning rubber? Burning oil? Need to know what it smells like first.

The smell was like unrefined exhaust? That is the best way I can describe it might have been burning oil as scott said but its hard for me to locate the leak. This was an isolated incident, ive put about 200 miles since this an nothing hes reoccurred?

Im going to flip my dog bone mounts maybe that will give me the clearance I need and eventually ill put in the spacers which should help too im assuming.
