• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Are just plain hard on cars

This kid from my school asks if i will take a look at his regal gs
I pop the hood and its just ugly in this thing belts were fraying on the sides the whole thing was gunked up with grease and dirt
his oil was low enough it barely wet the dipstick and his coolant hoses were both shot
his air filter was caked up with leaves and dirt

He then asked how much i would charge to drop a pulley size WTF i should tell him 100 bucks for a 3.0 pulley and watch him blow it up

The only problem with doing work for somebody... is that next time it takes a dump... they keep bringing it back to you. This is the sole reason why I don't do PC work for anyone anymore.

Just let him watch you put it on and then make him sign a paper or something saying that you are not responsible for anything that happens. While your doing it, let him know that this is bad for the car, but is his request. Sounds like easy money to me!

Thats the thing he knows i do mobile auto repair I told him I wont do the pulley drop of any kind until the car is tuned up and all the other stuff fixed plus a gave him a list of supporting mods he should do
I honestly love working on cars dont have a problem helping some one or lowering my hourly rate a bit just hate to see abused cars

i know what that is like i know this couple. she bought a cavalier blew it up within 5 months and her boyfriend went through 5 cars in a year because he blew them all up, then they asked me how i kept my car for so long, i told them i dont beat on it and keep up with the damn maintence. duh.

You guys mean you have to change stuff???

The oil doesnt last forever???

WTF are spark Plugs??

:th_laugh-pointup:BAHAhahaha:th_laugh-pointup:

I've heard someone claim fords are the most reliable cars on the road bar none.

Same kid doesnt know how fuel injection works.

Yeah maybe a crown vic.....they are proven to got beyond 200k, but so are grand prixs, but to be brand specific NO WAY. That is one car made by them that can for sure stand the test of time, but you can't even buy them anymore brand new because they are just fleet cars.

I think the focus is another great car as well. Not sure, but i haven't heard anything bad about them.

I'm a freshman in college... a lot of my classmates are just ignorant when it comes to cars.

I won't sit here and say that I know everything (I certainly don't), but they ought to teach basic maintenance in drivers ed. I can't tell you how many times I've been called because "my car is making a funny noise," or even by people who don't know how to change a spare tire.

This one is pathetic... What are you going to do when you get a flat tire at 3 in the morning? Wait for AAA?
I know, right?

Actually, speaking of...

The night after I got my GP, I had my passenger rear go flat extraordinarily quickly (1/8 mile or so). Pulled off the road into a subdivision, couldn't get the lugs off the tire. Tried for about 20 mins before calling AAA.... their response time was going to be 3 hours. So I called my ~250lb buddy to come and stomp on the tire iron for me. After some bouncing up and down (with a pipe extension on the iron) he finally managed to loosen them all.

I later learned that the lugs on every tire were torqued more than double what they should have been. :th_nervous:

Holy f*ck... You're lucky you weren't driving an intrepid. The lugs/studs break on those so easily if over torqued.

My crown ic has held up like a champ
its sitting at almost 150k and I have only had to do regular stuff on it and a few parts that i broke from driving hard Still dont like ford as a brand every other ford i have had has let me down
The focus is a decent econo-box and they have gotten a bit more refined over the years

when me and my sister were getting around driving age we had to learn how to put chains on a car jump a battery and change tires along with check fluids before we were allowed to start drivers ed

I hear ya, I remember where I grew up there would be a new car and one year later blowing oil out the ass end, granted there was lead in the fuel, but still no maintainance bagging the **** out of it. I once had someone tell me he did not change the oil cuz the sludge and grim stop leaks, all he did was add oil when needed, go figure

Thats awesome that what i do with my sable i add oil and never change it due to the oil leak I dont wanna fix figure it gets 6 quarts every 3 months lol

I swapped out a buddys oil it was thick and nasty he wanted synthetic so i ran some engine clean and some cheap oil throough set him up with mobile 1 and next thing i know is he has leaks ever where

heheh long time ago I (and few others) tried changing a rear flat on a ford van (80,s i think) and we we jumping, twisting everyhing to get them off. Finally figured out that they were reverse thread as ford at the time figured centrifical force would keep them tight ;-(. that was a f....g struggle to get that tire off lmao
