• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

:: Solved:: Tick but Not Knock

Yeah I'd love a cam just don't have the cash to do it the way I want too... well I guess it just depends on how much I pay for the donor.

It's just bad timing.. I've got my fiancee watching my spending... last motor I built I spent a bit much and she's on top of it this time.. and for the record the phone cost 199 lol

Sucks the here about the chipped pistons hopefully youll find a reasonable donor. You could always sell the lifters and make some monry back...hell i could use them depending on price. car-parts.com to search for local junkyards

It'd be nice to just find 2 pistons and replace them but I'm not sure what all I'll have to have to remove and reinstall the new.

most of the time a partial rebuild wont hold up.

same have done it, most have failed.

and you would still need to pull the engine, and then the pan, unbolt the rods from the crank, push the piston up and out, then put the new ones in. and then pray it lasts.

Or measure everything and make sure its in spec.

Engine fails because something is out of spec, unless you fix that, 50 mile wonder.

with just chipped piston, i would think if you check and recheck all your bearing clreances you may have a chance, being that no bearings spun.

plastigauge will be your new friend for sure.

Cyl 2 is scratched up. It's getting pulled tonight. I found a motor I'm going to get in the morning should be on the road by Monday for work.

Lol nope. I'll grab the motor tomorrow morning.. then head into work.. have it finished by Sunday easily. I just decided to put all the stuff I got for the previous motor on the new motor as well... not sure if I'd ever notice the difference with ls7 lifters but hey at least they are new.

Lol yeah Im taking my time really .. ill have it ready for work on Monday (knock on wood)

Donor car was a 2004 White CompG that was smacked in the rear. 98,180 miles. It already had LIM done but I put a new one on anyways the nIce thIck alum. Gm gaskets..Oil pan, sc, and valve covers as well. I cleaned it up... sanded and painted a few items with high temp paint the final shot should be a nice clean look.

I now have an extra set of heads, an intake manifold, injectors,ps pump, and genV sc
