260hp/260tq vs. 240hp/260tq, with a huge weight advantage to the cobalt... drive one, you won't call it a gay slowbalt again.
I have never driven one but i do know how great those cobalts are, especially when modded. BUT there is difference with the two and this is just off the top of my head, The GP is bigger than the cobalt so i can fit people in there comfortably, luggage too. The grand prix IMO looks better than the Cobalt, the GP is more funer IMO because you pretty much got a 4k IL boat to drive and you would expect the light cobalt to haul ass and not the GP. THe GP has an AWESOME 3800 Engine it is pretty cheap to mod. There are so many other things that are great about the GP that i dont remember but ya i like the GP because its a Pontiac. Really the Cobalt and GP are pretty much similar in speed but bottom line i like the GP and i think other people do since people buy more GPs than the cobalts since i see lots of cobalts for sale and not much of the GPs online. The weight is the only thing that helps the Cobalt but when i look at a car i want something fast that can carry 4+ people in it and the GP is it that, and the G8, the G8 will kill the Cobalts.
So Pretty much the Slowbalts are great and all but i would still take the GP GTP over the Cobalt, fun to work on and to mod and fun to drive and my grocery getter can haul ass for what it is. Someone said most GP will get killed by the cobalt, maybe but i think more than half now a days can kill those cobalts with a good modded GTP with less cash used. Also why would i want to listen to a 4 banger car farting with turbo when i can hear the scream of a S/C from the GTP and low rumble of a muscle car. Lastly its just IMO GP>Cobalt
EDIT: Also forgot i respect those Slowbalts cause they are chevy, i just like pontiac more. I dont only look at a car thats fast, i look for a car thats fast from a BRAND that I LIKE.
Did you really just say that a GTP is a low rumbling muscle car? Really?
yeah they're good cars, my point was that neither cobalts or grand prix's are speed demons. they are good all round cars. if you just wanted to go fast for 14-17k might as well get an fbody for 8-9k and still have the remaining 6-8k for mods
Our cars are still faster then the TC slowbalt, turbo 6speed with no ts, and a car thats close to the same size. Now price is a different story and atfermarket is out of the question but stock for stock
there's just so many inaccuracies...
gtp's and tc balts arent' even close as far as acceleration, top speed, and handling.
the LNF engine is one of the more technilogically advanced engines ever put into a general motor's vehicle.
the G8 is irrelevant because the GT or the GXP is double the price of a cobalt ss, and i don't even care about the 3.6 because it'll just need timing chains every 20k miles.
have you seen the amount of lower-end cobalts in today's fleet of cars?
pontiac was just rebranded chevrolet's and holden's in the last few years of it's existence.
and i've said it earlier in this thread i believe, GM sent the SS models out more detuned than the GTP's were when they came out. the SS/SC stage three kit came with a tune that allowed for either a 50 or 100 shot of nitrous, i can't remember which. this was developed by General Motors, and covered under factory warranty.
and, just throwing this out here, you can't hear the exhaust over the turbo. hell, if you hear anything, it's the damn high pressure fuel pump.
but you got me on the four people part. can't say much there.
fair enough. i do miss my f-body every now and then. the balt also only had 37,xxx miles on it when i bought it, and got better gas mileage then anything else i was looking at. needed a daily, i already have something that's working on being a track car
