some kid in my school has a blue cobalt ss and hes always trying show it off, he always revs it up when he drives past me and im like i know these are quick but i doubt he has any work done to it so i give him a slight pull from about a 20 roll and pull past a lil. then we both pull from about a 30 mph roll and i pull on him all the way his car kept up but it defiantly wasn't beating my GTP. So then he pulls over and calls me over and i started talking to him i asked him what he had done to his car he said nothing its stock with exhaust (typical kids around here) he was surprised he thought his car was fast he said he didn't expect me to give him a good run. my car doesnt have many mods just a 2 1/2" catless DP, taylor 8mm wires, 3.8" pulley SLP cold air/ram air intake and thats about it for now. whats your take on these cobalt's who has gave one a good run? the one i did was kind of just messing around with him.

i beat my friends cobalt, cobalt sport is what he has, we went like 2 or 3 times all from a dig and i got him everytime.
nothing special, now if it was an ss then i stand no chance

The Sport is only 171 hp, not the 260 hp SS.

Nevermind. Read and skimmed. Either way, the Sport was nothing special.

i know thats why i said "nothing special, now if it was an ss then i stand no chance"

I wanna run with my buddies again.. Last time we ran was before my headers, hv3 and wb tune. And from a 40 roll he only had 1.5-2 lengths on me. Didn't put those lengths on till past 70 though.

I drove one of the first years of the Cobalt SS with the 2.4 and standard trans. It was black. Fun car to drive.

They are nothing special performance wise as mentioned earlier, but it was fun to drive and looked nice.

The turbo ones are quick. There are a few of them around here. There are a lot of the supercharged ones here. Most are stock though.

There was a red turbo one at the GM dealer when I was there before that had to have the Brembo front brakes replaced. They said they would start to fail when it was wet. Good job it was under warranty. The parts weren't cheap. I think they quoted them at least 600 for the parts.

i'd like to see what my car would do with somebody who could drive it. the ss/sc's were mid-14 second cars. profiling people my age, probably high 14's. i'll tell you firsthand that a near stock gtp would be seeing space before the taillights of a turbo ss if you went from a 30 roll. i'd probably start in second, give a half a car to you, and then pull... hard. i really just can't put into words how quick it feels like i'm at 100. it traps 3mph more than my firebird did on it's best run, and that's with me babying it off the line and running mid to high 14's. they're just stupid under boost. like, spinning tires and getting torque steer so bad that if i turn traction control off, stability control cuts fuel at the top of second, ~60mph. a cobalt shouldn't run like that.
