• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I finished my topswap and went to start the car today. It fired up ok, pretty much what I was expecting with the cam, but now I have an audible knock. It seems to be coming from the back of the eninge, but idk for sure. Its not steady, its got a very random sequence.

I torqued the stock roller rockers to the torque specs provided on the GM service manual. The lifters are properly seated.

My tune is very very close to the 3.4 pulley, autolite 104, 9" cone filter tune from the HPTuners repository.

I have a couple of scans if anybody wanted to take a look at those.

Anybody have any ideas?

I don't think that's it, but I'll look to be sure.

I haven't driven the car, just fired it up and let it idle a few minutes.

Before i started mine i left the fuel pump fues out and cranked it over a couple times just to get oil on everything and lifters pumped back up

I shut it off after it would knock a few times. Is it normal to hear loud knocks while things are breaking in?

I took some videos, and I'll upload those shortly.

That may be what it is. I guess I'll give it some more time. Is there anything special I should to to get them to pump?

Videos are uploading slowly on youtube.

NE topswaps are just bad news all around.

I think he died.

My friends said that on my FB status.

Heres the few quick videos I took earlier. 2&3 you can hear the knock better

I drove it to the gas station and its a lot better, but still needs a tune BAD. and I apparently put in a coolant elbow wrong and smashed an o ring, so that's out. Also, I did get the supercharger belt tight.

how is top swapping a bad idea?

your s/c belt shouldn't be jumping like that.

did you torque your rocker bolts when the rockers were tdc?

are u using the right s/c belt?

did you align your timing marks properly?

did you torque the cam bolt properly?

are your spark plug wires in the right order?

i would start with those, what do your spark plugs look like? oh and post your scans

spade is silly and was making a big deal out of his lifters not being oiled up. the car quieted down after he let it idle a little bit, just like they all do.
