• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

So I am building a budget Gaming rig...

^^^ Niice, I wish I could budget that much...I would have gotten the 200 series Geforce card, but I really pushed the limits of my wifes patience with what I did get...either way its better than my POS ComCrap.

Haha yes another person realizes they ARE comcrap not compaq :) But I hope the rig comes along sweet and works well. It should flow pretty nicely.

Man I love that case!!!! That would be perfect to fit my fat arse 9800 GTX video card. I currently have an Antec Performance One P180 in Black. Newegg.com - Antec Performance One P180 Silver cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases Its nice but its does not have enough length to completely fit my 9800. I had to remove the top HD bay to accomdate the video card.

I looks like the 900 might fight that bill to replace my P180. And then I can move the P180 over to my file system rig to store all its drives its holding more adequately with better cooling to boot for it!

Nice find there! And the price is right in range too!

well, I don't know how much longer your card is from mine but mine fits in this case perfectly with a little room to spare....once the processor gets installed I will post up pics of the build...I looked at the 900 series but I like this case better. (personal preference as the 900 is an excellent case)

The Saitek is a nice keyboard as well, but I havn't seen one local here, Best buy had the G15 and the Razer, but not the Saitek

Hey Jeff,

I got some pictures of my setup. Pardon the dust on the fans, it happens ;) But you can see how huge this card is.

Here are some of the video card's position. It covered up my top 2 sata ports and I had to remove the HD Cage cause it was literally bumping into my sata drives. I had to drop the sata drives down into the bottom of the case, but I got to keep my Raid setup :)

As for the rest of the internals....I have 4gb of PQI Turbo memory, an Asus A8N32 SLi Deluxe Mobo, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Toledo 2.2GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 89W Dual-Core Processor, 2 WD Raptor 74gb HDs in a Raid 0 configuration with a SB Xfi Platinum soundcard and breakout box. A 20" ViewSonic LCD Monitor, D-Link 1gb Gamer Router and D-Link 1gb 5 port hub, and my Logictech G15 Keyboard and Razor gaming mouse. And my ubar sound system, a Logic THX 5.1 surround system. The sub box alone ticks off the people who live beneath me so I have to literally leave it on 1 or 0 when she is there trolling about!

And lastly my file server wannabe setup. Its my old gaming system I convertered into file server. It holds currently 750gb of drive space on 4 seperate drives. I need to upgrade the case to provide it better cooling. Pardon all the wiring mess to the side and behind. I wish that was one thing the computing industry would fix!

Yup I told ya it's a biggin :) My 8800GT is half the width of this card, most of this card's width is the heatsink that runs the full length of the card. And you are correct, its a power hungry mofo no doubt! Some of the newer mobo's out there are finally getting smart and putting their sata ports on the outter edge of the boards or in a completely different location away from the video cards to save the sata ports from getting covered like mine did.

One thing I am surprised you didnt pick up on in one pic, this one below, take a good look, I am sure once you see it, you will see it pretty clearly ;) You're a fellow law enforcement officer, you should be able to snoop it out ;)

Darn he is on to me! :th_angry2:

Yeah I love my Stinger. I have had since 3rd year on the force, that makes that puppy like 13 years old now. It is probably one of the most dependable lights I have ever owned. Plus it doubled nicely for other "applications" :th_king-evil:

wtf is this, a control panel from the uss enterprise? (i dont mean the air craft carrier in norfolk...lol)

so how is your intel rig going? it was 2k bucks overall? i could have gotten you a crossfire rig and 3.2 ghz quad core for about 1400..but its cool. how is your build, how do you like it? the 9600 you had was still a good choice, heck of a lot better than those 8600's they replaced. a pair of those together will be just as good as a 9800gtx...if not a little better. and cheaper

oh yeah, my mobo died...i guess that is what happens when your pc isnt turned on for 5 mos..so i might be building another gaming rig sooner than i wanted to...
