snout plug

Hey, I swapped out my pulley today and the plastic plug in the end of the s/c snout came out in peices. Should I replace this? What is its purpose? Also I must give a :th_thumb-up: to ZZP for the design of the Gen 2 puller. It made this task so much easier!

I put a x-mas tree plug back in so hopefully that will be ok... is it possible for the s/c oil to leak from this hole if no plug was there??

If you had a plastic plug in there before, then you can use anything you want to seal the hole...or leave it open does not matter, it is not a seal of any sorts, cause your snout shaft is not "vented". It just keeps dirt and crap from getting down in the threads.

The earlier snouts that had a "breather" bolt/plug in them had a vented snout shaft to release pressure that built up in the case. THESE snouts do require that plug, putting in a plastic "Christmas Tree" plug will only allow the oil to seep out, and get everywhere...even worse.

And no...having a vented to a non vented snout shaft is not better. There is no real advantage to one over the other.
