Smog pump question.. please help.. I'm having so much trouble with this thing.

okay so i was pulling code p0410 (Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction) so I replaced the smog pump.. cleared the codes.. and the same code came back. When i took the smog pump cover off.. it broke, the cheap plastic just cracked and a chunk came off the side.. i tried sealing it.. but couldn't so the fan is exposed. I can hear the pump turn on so it's working.. but i'm still getting the code.. would the crack in the smog pump cover send this code? I don't think it would.. but i could be wrong.. any help with this trouble code would be greatly appreciated.
 


i dont think i need the smog pump.. if i'm wrong could someone tell me why? i'm thinking about just plugging the hose and getting the smog pump deleted on the PCM i want to order.
 
No, you don't need the smog pump, it's part of the Cali emissions package, most wbodies don't even have them.
 
i just wanted to make sure i didnt need it.. because some guy was telling me that when it doesnt work. the injectors get clogged and stuff.. it didnt make sense to me at all.. there's no way for it to even effect the injectors.
